I can not say enough wonderful things about the Retreat at Owl Creek Studio! Deryn is a fabulous teacher and thought of every detail to make our time special in beautiful Sheridan, Wyoming. We learned to make a ring using an elks ivory and also a stunning unique deer antler necklace. The 4 day class was filled with learning, fun and camaraderie. We were also fortunate enough to enjoy delicious gourmet meals prepared by a professionally trained chef. It was more than just another jewelry class and I can’t wait to attend again. The unexpected bonus was making new friends in our small intimate group! Thank you Deryn for pouring your heart and soul into the class, and sharing your talent and passion for the art!

Last summer I got the unique opportunity to take one Deryn’s jewelry retreats at her home studio in Sheridan, WY. Her talent and teaching style are impeccable and we had so much fun working in her large beautiful workshop. Her son, a professional chef, cooked meals for us that were out of this world. Deryn’s teaching style is relaxed and loose making our learning experience very special. Both projects were so unique and I learned many techniques to further my jeweler's education. The opportunity to meet fellow jewelers was another highlight and I treasure those friendships made during the retreat. Thank you for your hospitality!

If you are looking for a great jewelry workshop experience that includes not only great metalsmithing tips and techniques but also great food and fun, look no further. I attended the very first workshop taught at Deryn’s Owl Creek Retreat and had a fabulous time. The necklace and ring that we made were beautiful and I ended up with two pieces that I absolutely love.
Besides the awesome time in Deryn’s studio space, there was a lot of time spent socializing with Deryn and the other students. We had a great time getting to know each other while enjoying fabulous food and libations. It was a truly wonderful experience and I hope to return for another workshop/retreat in the future.
